The partnership is being undertaken to allow Eco Barge to continue benefiting the marine life and aquatic environment of the region while also providing the opportunity to engage Cruise Whitsundays employees and guests in the protection of the region’s natural environment. Cruise Whitsundays are currently in their third year of partnership with Eco Barge.

Reef Catchments

Reef Catchments is a Natural Resource Management (NRM) organisation which provides services aligned to the facilitation, coordination and delivery of projects and NRM services to generate and foster sustainable use of natural resources. In 2015, Reef Catchments funded Eco Barge's Clean Streets and Creeks Program which involved 24 land based clean-ups around Airlie Beach preventing debris entering the marine environment. In 2016 Reef Catchments, through funding from the Australian Government, are supporting Eco Barge to run marine debris removal trips as part of their Island Rescue Program.

For 40 years, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority has managed the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park so it's protected for the future. During 2016, The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority are supporting Eco Barge's Whitsunday Marine Debris Removal Program part of The Great Barrier Reef Clean-Up 2016, which is part of the broader initiative of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, funded through the Australian Governmentss' Reef Trust.

David Edge Marine Contracting is one of the most highly regarded marine salvage operators in the Whitsunday Region, with his operations extending from Ayr to Mackay. David has been instrumental in providing technical expertise to assist in setting up the Marine Debris Removal Program and ensuring its efficiency and productivity. David also provides in-kind support through equipment hire and servicing, provision of office space and an area for the storage and sorting of collected marine debris.
