Barge Trip #279

February 19, 2019 by Fiona Broadbent

Date: 19th February 2019
Location: Thomas Island, Keyser Island and Shaw Island
Partner:Queensland Governments Community Sustainability Action grants program
Volunteers: 12
Debris Removed: 675 kilograms

Today we headed to the Southern Whitsunday Islands, this is the furthest Eco Barge has travelled to clean in one day. We cleaned Thomas, Keyser and Shaw Island which were all heavily impacted with marine plastics. We found a very large clump of rope which was stuck on a rock, with a fantastic effort from our volunteers we were able to remove it to prevent any marine life from becoming entangled.
