Barge Trip #281

February 21, 2019 by Fiona Broadbent

Date: 21st February 2019
Location: Whitsunday Island and Haslewood Island
Partner: Reef Catchments
Volunteers: 10
Debris Removed: 282 kilograms

The wind picked up a little bit today preventing us from heading south again. So we went round the back of Whitsunday Island and cleaned the beaches within Solace Bay. These beaches had large amounts of pumice on and lots of micro plastics within the pumice. Once clean we headed over to Haslewood Island where we found lots of large plastic items on two very impacted beaches.
