Debris Removed: 91 kilograms
A fantastic day, we headed straight out to Whitehaven Beach where we met up with Cruise Whitsundays. Here we released our beautiful turtle Brodie who Cruise Whitsundays had rescued two years prior. When Brodie was rescued he had a severed front flipper and severe boat strike injuries, he had a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him. Two years later after care from the Whitsunday Turtle Rescue Centre and Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre he has made a full recovery and was able to be released back into the beautiful Whitsunday waters today.
Along with Brodies release, we also conducted beach clean-ups on Border Island and Hook Island, cleaning two beaches in total we removed 91 kilograms of marine plastic.
