Counting and Sorting Data Collection
After each marine debris removal trip, Eco Barge hosts a Count and Sort volunteer activity day. During these sessions, volunteers sort and categorize all collected debris according to the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Database guidelines. Every item is carefully counted, and the data is uploaded to the database.
This process is crucial for tracking the volume and types of debris found in our region. The data helps identify problematic items, enabling the development of targeted source reduction strategies to tackle marine debris at its origin.
Eco Barge is proud to have contributed over 2,887,848 individual items to the AMDI database, driving meaningful action for cleaner oceans.
