Today was a very special barge trip, not only were we out cleaning the beaches but we were also releasing a turtle who had been in care at the Whitsunday Turtle Rescue Centre for nearly two months. Willow, an adult Green turtle, had come into care very lethargic and with float however after two months he had made a full recovery and was able to be released off South Molle Island. After the release the team headed over to Hamilton Island to clean the impacted beaches on the south-east side. After seeing whales en route, Libby received a phone call about a turtle rescue. A juvenile green turtle had been found floating at Butterfly Bay, this turtle – Crush was rescued and transported back to the WTRC.
