Debris Removed: 227 kilograms
Last day of school holidays and a great day out for Eco Barge, we finished cleaning all the south east facing beaches on Long Island and removed 227kg of marine debris. The majority of which was plastic items as well as a very large fishing net. On the way home, we were about to arrive at Port of Airlie boat ramp when we spotted a sick turtle resting in the mudflats. We were able to pull up close to the turtle and rescue it. The turtle was transported to the Whitsunday Turtle Rescue Centre for rehabilitation.
